<!--EZCODE LINK START--><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2003/01/21/reel_life_jan_21_2003_article.shtml" target="top">From the BBC:</a><!--EZCODE LINK END--> Todd Haynes - director of much-praised melodrama "Far From Heaven" - is working on a biopic of legendary singer Bob Dylan.

Unusually the legendary singer has sanctioned the movie, which Haynes promises will be very unconventional.

"It will be a very Todd Haynes kind of approach," says Haynes. "It won't be a traditional biopic by any stretch of the imagination, which is why Dylan has agreed to it and has given me permission to do it. It's the first time he's done that for any film that's related to his life in any way. <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>It will be refracted into seven different characters, who are all aspects of Bob Dylan standing in for parts of his life."</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->
Sounds, er, interesting. No word on casting yet, but Haynes told BBCi Films he's looking for various actors to personify different aspect of Dylan's life: <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>"There'll be many. There'll be different actors who play different sides of him. It will be great. I'm excited!"</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END-->

Uhhhh...so basically he's just going to steal the technique Solondz just used in Palidromes, without giving him any credit. And of course way more people will see it because it's about Bob Dylan, and they'll all be like, "Wow, what an amazingly unique and bold idea." Fucker.

I've never seen any of his films, but I like that comment. ;) <p>------------------

Perplexed.

(Because I <!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">really</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--> liked him. I don't like the ole mentioning of self in the third-person or the theft.)

A foreign film did it BEFORE Todd Solondz. I read it in an indie film magazine.

I read something a few years ago where he talked about doing this, way before I heard anything about Palindromes. It's not like he was just hanging out and then saw Palindromes and then was like, "Quick get Dylan on the phone, I got an idea."

Collective consciousness, I think (if that's too hippy I apologize), but it seems like when I have an idea or a thought, I hear or see something similar within a short amount of time.

I like Todd Haynes, I think he's super. I don't like referring to oneself in the third person though, maybe that part was taken out of context.

I love Todd Haynes. He's brilliant, and one of the few unique filmmakers left. I will say this in his defense: I remember reading about his Dylan bio-pic a good 3 years ago and it discussed the idea of using multiple actors to represent Bob Dylan. So, he did not rip-off Solondz. If anything, Solondz read that. I think they are both good, but Haynes owns Solondz so hard. Anyone that has seen his amazing Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story would agree. <p>"Well I want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>

I can't stand Solondz.

I just read that German TV is going to show "Velvet Goldmine". Yay! <p>------------------

Just saw this. Really liked it. Haven't gathered my thoughts well enough to say much else at this point, but Cate as Bob is now my desktop. Her performance pretty much confirms my suspicion that she has super powers.

I totally forgot I'd started this post. I saw the headline and said, "Ooh, that's an old topic. Hey there's my name! Wait...Oh, riiiiight." So, two and a half years later, I still like Todd Haynes movies, but I'm still not very interested in this one. Too many celebs? Disinterest in Dylan worship? I dunno. Oh well. I'm sure it's fantastic for the right audience.

I really liked this movie. I became interested in it because it's about Bob Dylan. But then Cate Blanchett (one of my favorite actresses) is in it. So I had to go see it and loved every minute of it.

It's not a biopic, but the film is amazing and has the Bob Dylan's spirit.

Loved it!
