The Brown Bunny was released on DVD yesterday. I have not seen it, but I NEED to. Is it worth buying? Renting?

Neither, it sucks (pun intended too). Then again I hate Vincent Gallo and his work, so I was never expecting much out of this in the first place. He likes to waste a a lot of film to try and find people's patience limits... <p>------------------------------------

If you haven't seen it, rent it before you think about buying it. It's fairly polarizing. I thought it was a very good film, personally, but not the sort of thing I'd watch over and over again.

I love Buffalo 66, but Brown Bunny was horrible. Gallo must have had his head up his ass the whole time because while the photography is beautiful the story and dialouge are mind-blowingly terrible. Rent it or just never watch it. <p>"Well I want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>

I kind of agree with Raleigh, although I suggest renting it strictly for the photography and music. I would watch it again just to look at it. It was beautiful and the editing, the pacing was pretty hypnotic. Some of the scenes are pretty corny, Violet and I forget what Cheryl Tieg's name was. I thought their scenes were unbelievably corny. I can't imagine Vincent Gallo even thinking they were good ideas.

But it's pretty impressive when you see the credits to realize there was like 7 or 8 people involved with the production and that's it.

The first time I tried to watch it, I fell asleep. If you can make it through the beginning sequence, then you might make it to the very end...I got frustrated a lot with the slow pacing, but when I saw the end it kind of made sense, the sort of feeling he was trying to create with all that driving, driving, driving...but I wouldn't buy it, no way. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->What Would Eno Do?</p>

I watched it last night. I can say that it is hands down the most self indulgent movie I have ever seen. All I could think of for a while was how could anyone consider this a follow up? Did he film this over a weekend or something? What is the point of this? HOWEVER!!! The end tied up everything brilliantly. It has this brutal, and stark ending that really moved me. So I have to give Gallo credit. It is not a great film, but I am glad I saw it.

So I rented this movie just to see. And my roommate was out, so I thought it was a good time.

Does she not arrive JUST as the "scene" is about to begin?

Fuck. She's a new roommate, so I, ah, didn't want her to get too freaked out... Anyhow, I guess I'll save that for tomorrow now.

I liked it so far, though. I did. Surprising.

best and most radical film about loneliness i've seen. so moving, hypnotic, haunting and beautiful. i could've sat for hours and hours watching those scenes with him driving around to the amazing music.

I haven't seen anything by Vincent Gallo, but his media persona makes me not want to. He just seems like a royal douche, to be frank. He has "celebrity feuds" and crap all the time (Roger Ebert, Christina Ricci). The Roger Ebert thing was ridiculous. Could you imagine Wes firing back at a critic? No. Want to know why? Because who cares? Roger Ebert likes so many things that suck, and nobody who really cares about film lets his opinion have any baring. If you get a bad review you deal with it and move on. Don't start picking on someone's weight. What an asshole. Apparently, he picked on Christina Ricci's weight a lot too, as well as borderline molesting her during the making of Buffalo 66, and she was only 17.

I don't know anything about his work. I just think he seems like an ass wipe.

yeah he's the biggest asshole in the universe.
but, to say it with your words: who cares? get over it and enjoy his art because his two movies are, as far as i'm concerned, two absolute modern masterpieces. he's a brilliant actor and a wonderful musician.

kubrick brought shelley duvall to tears during the "shining"-shooting because he was harrassing her so much. nobody gives a shit about that, everybody hails him as god. not to mention someone like david o. russell.
