I dont know if there are any Dylan fans here, but if there are, I could use your opinions...

I just recently got into Bob Dylan's music. I have Love and Theft (2001), Highway 61 (1965), and Desire (1970-something). I want to buy another Dyland CD, but I can't decide which to get next: Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, Bringing it All Back Home, or something else completely. what should I do?

I saw the title of this thread and thought you wanted advice in the style of Bob Dylan, which could've be fun.

Anyway, you need all those albums. All of them. They're all classics but I reckon Bringing It All Back Home first, then Blonde On Blonde and finally Blood On The Tracks.
My personal recommendation though is John Wesley Harding, which is possibly my favourite Dylan album.

Oh and Desire is 1975 :)

Hope that helps!

My personal favourite is Blonde on Blonde, but Bringing it all Back Home is really damned close. What you should get though is the new Bob Dylan Bootleg Series 6 Live 1964 which is probably the best live album ever released. It sounds absolutely gorgeous and contains some really intense versions of the tracks off Bringing it all Bach Home, as well as a couple duets with Joan Baez which are amazing. <p>"Well then I just want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>

maybe it's too obvious a choice for some of the more seasoned dylan fans out there, but 'freewheelin' bob dylan' is a great record too, along with blood and blonde. <p>"Mr. Fischer was my father's name. Call me Bert, please."</p>

Freewheelin and Blood on the Tracks are awesome. My actual favoutite might just be Pat Garretty and Billy the Kid, but that hasn't been remastered yet. <p>"Well then I just want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>

blonde on blonde's the one that really got me hooked. But you could probably go the chronological route, which would be interesting, starting with BIABH and then blonde on blonde, and then John Wesley (a masterpiece).

Also don't forget important historical documents like Don't Look Back, Eat the Document (harder to find), and Live 66, which is also a great CD of music, as well as incredibly interesting.

I've been listening to "New Morning" a lot recently and it keeps sounding so very Wes-y to me. So many songs would fit in Bottle Rocket, or Rushmore, The Royal Tenebaums. They're much softer Dylan, very remniscent of Mothersbaugh's scores for the first three.
