Oh surely. I just meant that when I think of him, I don't immediately think of him as an acoustic artist... that's what I meant.

Hel-LO chelseaGIRL!

I'm up and down with James Taylor. I know some of his stuff is a bit cheeseball, but some of it's pretty beautiful. And I think he does it all in earnestness, which makes me like him.

Heh. In Mark's Dad's truck there were a few cd selections (this is not a lie):
James Taylor - Greatest Hits
C+C Music Factory - whatever that was called (!)
ABBA Gold
Natalie Merchant - Tiger Lily
And some farm musical that Mark engineered.

It was so ecclectic! (C+C Music Factory? Whaaa?)

What the fuck? It took this long to get a Tenacious D mention in this thread? You might dismiss them as a joke or novelty at first, but once you see them play, you realize they are a great acoustic rock band.

ILIS, I'll take the blame for not piping up for the D. I haven't paid much attention here.

I just started a thread about this dude, but Ray Lamontagne is a great acoustic act. Just discovered him. Good stuff.

Hel-LO, chelseagirl.

James Taylor, to my knowledge, has never sucked any part of a donkey... But his tunes, when mixed with drums, comes out with cheese sauce all over it.

In general terms, acoustic rock is best when it comes from more electric bands. The Kinks, Stones, and Zepplin really shine when they go acoustic - like they're paying homage to the folk rockers.
