Pet Sounds is simply a beautiful album. It's pop, yes, meaning that it really shouldn't hit this level of pure genius, but it is. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy, sad and lonely, and alive, all at the same time. I finally got to here the DVD-A mix of this album, and while I had always loved it (as long as there are stars above it) the new mix really connected with me in a way I never expected. I love Pet Sounds.
My DVDs

god only knows playing while you're winding through the valleys with the sun strobing through giant trees. yikes.

oh, i love this album too. in fact, the beach boys have a lot of great music and a lot of really good albums that are nearly great, but PS is flawless.

tell me about the DVD release.....the videos, extras, etc

is the second vocal track still missing from You Still Believe like it was in the Stereo version put out on the 99 disc?

There is a Pet sounds box set which has only vocal tracks and instrumentals and it also has different Beach Boys singing different songs....its a little expensive, but its cool to check out

Yeah, it's called the Pet Sounds Sessions. Fortunately, I found it on a newsgroup, so I don't have to pay the large sums of money to give it the few listens I will. The album is spectacular, but that doesn't mean I want to listen to 50 outtakes all the time.
My DVDs

I have it too. I just downloaded that box of Grabit. The only Beach Boys I ever bought was Pet Sounds, but I suppose if I ever have money to burn I'd buy some more.
My DVDs

I've only got Pet Sounds, myself. But I figure one day I'll snatch up a greatest hits or something. I usually recoil in horror at best-of's, but I'm not the hugest fan of the Chuck Berry Surf Rock Ripoffs they were tossing out back in the early days.

whatever you do, don't buy a Beach Boys best of.....they really suck and show nothing of BW's genious.....well a little, but ummm......for instance, i saw the new Best of.....they just put out (i think that's like the 100th different one)......there were a lot of crappy songs on there

get some of the Smile stuff........it is ions beyond Chuck Berry and really anything that has ever been done since......really

No, I don't know if there is any proof they were actually on LSD, like say, there is proof that Lennon was a heroin junkie during Let It Be.
My DVDs
