HUGE @#$%&^&*( STROKE OF LUCK FOR ME
i have one of the first generation MacBook Pros - and first generation stuff is notorious for having problems. i had one of my fans go out recently. when i called applecare, they put me thru to a product specialist, who wasreally nice, and like a customer service mainman
we actually set up the shipping deal, where apple sends me a box, they ship it overnight both ways and fix it, no problem. then carl calls me back like 10 minutes after we'd hung up and says, "is this correct that youve sent in your computer 9 times since 2006?" i said it was true, and he offered to replace the laptop!
here's the best part: the closest computer they have to my current laptop (that htey can offer as a replacement) is a good step up from my own. what's more is that i have the option of paying the difference to upgrade further. so basically i can get a new, updated computer for like $400.now
..... i've been researching my options.. in doing so, i've learned that the release of a macbook pro upgrade is rumored for the next week or two. so i'm going to wait for that, to at least have the option of buying up to the newest newest. i've also learned, however, that a redesigned MBP is expected sometime this fall, in which there will be 2 processor chips, which is supposed to have a huge performance payoff.so
(for those nerds still reading) i am moving from a 2 Ghz intel core duo processor to a 2.2 Ghz intel core (2 i think) duo processor. also some bumps for hard drive space, but that isnt as exciting. i really want to boost my RAM from 2GB to 4GB, but that is the most expensive move available to me right now. i'm thinking more and more that i may not buy any upgrade, and just save my money for the double-chip computer, but i need a lot of power for graphic design.
anyway, it's an awesome predicament, but i'm bad at being indecisive, as i've been told libras are..
