I was thinking about this idea for awhile, i had this idea about these five friends who have not seen or spoken to each other since grade school, they meet each other again after years from spilting apart but under the worst circumstances of a friend they all knew that died. It encompasses the entire funeral where they separate themselves from the congregation and talk about themselves and their friend. The one question asked is that can broken friendships be fixed or did they go their separate ways fro a reason.

The basic idea sounds promising, but I have a couple of questions.

At what age do you imagine they split apart? And how old are they now? If they haven't spoken to each other since grade school, what pushes them all to come to the funeral? (I ask because I wonder if I would even learn a former grade school friend had died, if I haven't spoken to him/her since then).

At 12 they separated and when they are 19 is when they meet again, they split because like friends you sometimes find new ones and forget about the old. The death of their one best friend they shared is what brings them together.

These don't seem like very high stakes. Not that the stakes always have to be high. But in the first post, you posed the question whether they could re-establish their friendships or if they were meant to not be friends. If they just drifted ways at the tender ate of 12, why would it be that difficult for them to become friends again at 19? Or in the alternative, why do we care if they become friends again? Unless there's more to why they stopped being friends -- somebody did something to somebody else, and that something needs to be corrected/apologized for.
