I just watched a dude on a how-to infomercial, who specializes in capitalizing on repo homes (charming profession, in and of itself) admit that he only read probably five books in his entire life, but he wrote this book anyway, and he wrote it the way he would be able to read it -- in 30 days!

I would say as an american citizen I'm embarrassed, but at this point I really don't expect much better. People seem to embrace stupidity in this country. I'm generalizing here, but the evidence speaks for itself.

there's a commercial for a local technical school advertising its Graphic Design program. The girl in the commercial says something like, "You don't have to know much about art to be a designer - graphic design is really easy to learn about!"

I was offended, of course, as a Design student (at a different college).
