I saw Rhett Miller's show at Largo saturday night, and he was telling a story about hiding in a bathroom stall from certain people at school, and then said:

"I actually hid in that stall a lot -- from the football players, the Owen Wilsons." [audience laughter] "We went to school together, but that's all I'll say about that."

Anyway, he clearly didn't care for Owen. Now, I never had Owen pegged as a bully/jock type, so I was a little bummed to hear that. And I hate it when artists I like don't care for each other. So now I've decided to ruin all of your days by sharing this "news" with the board.

[insert demonic laughter here]

Well, its alot more juicy and fun to talk shit about famous people.

You don't get much attention with, 'He's a super nice guy'.

You shouldn't get bummed about 'one man's opinion'. Ecspecially someone who has something to gain (publicity) by bashing someone super famous.

Sour grapes perhaps?

On Edit: Who here graduated high school best friends with everyone? <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>Anyone?</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->"Sometimes I stop and think how strange this all is. I proudly don't give a shit. Owen could be the psycho bully from 3 O'Clock High for all I care. I only like gossip about celebrities I already don't like, oeuvre-wise.

Courtney Love, fer instance, I watched Kurt And Courtney for the sheer pleasure of watching people who didn't like her tell stories about her untalented ass.

She lucked into a niche playing girlfriends of famous dudes, way to strech.

I think maybe I overestimated my disappointment, or at least it's being interpreted that way. I know we all change from high school. All I'm sayin' is wouldn't it have been cool if he'd said they went to school together and were friends and he was a huge Tenenbaums fan!

I don't know any of the girls I went to high school with anymore. sad, but true.

I agree that it's more fun to talk shit about famous folks. Anyway, Owen is obviously a bit ofa devil, right? And that's how I like him. and in the end who cares? I like his work.

on edit: I don't mean that I would endorse him beng a meanie. But I doubt he was mean -- just doesn't seem the type. Remember, it tweaked his guilt to even deliver that line in Shanghai Knights, about orphans not knowing anything about family or something.

also the movies with wes ... they're just not mean at heart

I hear you ilis. Nobody likes a bully, and of COURSE people change, and who cares about that now. But I felt a little bit sad. Jock bullies are the worst.

Yes, yes, yes, we all love Owen now, and I'm sure he isn't mean like that anymore.

(But I bet it gets the shit under Brett's skin that Owen's doing so well. A person that bullied me is doing very well, and it kind of pisses me off.) <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--> </p>

Not to be insensitive, but Rhett Miller seems like a bit of a puss. There's always at least one kid at school who flip's his wig something happen's to him. I'm not condoning bullying. The bully usually says he wasn't serious, and there was a misunderstanding, but there's still that one kid who's way of fighting back is exaggerating stories to stir up more trouble. I bet Rhett Miller was one of 'em. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->

Don't be hard on yourself, Pete!

I bet you were a total nerd in high school.

Wait............you know what I mean. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->"Sometimes I stop and think how strange this all is. Something that began as a little idea in Austin, that Wes and I just walked around talking about between ourselves, has turned into all this."</p>

I don't know what I am. My high school is the most pathetic thing you've ever seen. The entire school took up one 15th of a little league baseball diamond. I am head of the most prestigious click in the school. Me. And I have a toadie (Billio89). I am a geek by nature, but my schoolmates are so stee-upid, anyone with a triple-digit IQ could deliver a crushing mental blow. I'll usually give an underappreciated remark, and watch the heads roll. I've also gotten the upper-hand against some teachers. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->

TS, are you trying to tell us that you live your life as Max Fischer? Do you wear a blazer?

;)

Here's what I'll write in your yearbook:
High school sucks. Keep being yourself. Travel when you get out of school or go to college far away from home. Don't get tied down early, either. Stay sweet and sassy! And have a great summer!

Inspiring words! Thank you! I don't wear a blazer, just the classic band t-shirt, jeans, and chucks. I wore my favorite D shirt (the dickso sucks one) and nobody noticed what it resembled. One teacher complimented me on the good vocabulary (Tenacious)!

Am I OT? Umm...Owen's not a bully. There. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->
