Anyone else see Owen and Ben at the Oscars? There little skit was hilarious with Ben in the S & H costume and Owen in his tux. It was also quite funny on the red carpet when Owen and Ben did a similar routine that left Owen staring (and asking about) the interviewer's chest. So funny.

I dunno... I know he was just joking but I thought the joke was a bit in bad taste . also... I had such high hopes after their costume skit a few years ago. This one felt a bit lame after that.

and I hate to be trivial but... HAIR! :rolleyes

I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way. -mark twain

yeah, they were funny. They were also good at the 2002 oscars, when they did a short filmed skit for best costume design. I don't remember much of it, but I remember they just ended up insulting each other and Ben said something like this to Owen: "hey, maybe you'll win something for Behind Enemy Lines. Oh wait, they don't have a category for Best Running."

funny stuff.

Even though I usually have a low tolerance for Oscar "comedy," I did giggle when Ben said he would wear the outfit the next day, and Owen replied, "You do that, big man." It sounded like an Owenism, rather than scripted.

Mandingo. I grock your mouth music. -- The Tick

It was cool but I liked the Jack Black/Will Ferrell "duet" more. Very funny.
Did anyone see Ben and Owen interviewed before the show? That was funny too. Owen stealing Ben's thunder and talking about "the little girl from Whale Rider" and her magical performance :lol And talking about it was better to attend the show as a nominee "isn't it Ben? Oh I forgot you've never been nominated have you?"
They are great together alright.

i was going to post on this the day after but didn't have time and then forgot about it. it was so funny. the joke about the chest was in bad taste, but i like to think that it wasn't double sided - that he was just asking about the diamonds. also, the interruption at the podium when he said "hey, this isn't 'i made a mistake, i have to ruin things for everyone' time, this is the OSCARS!"
jack black and will ferrell were funny as well. my favorite part of the whole thing was when will ferrell was reading off the nominations and the way he said 'sting' in a whispering sort of voice...it was the comment that made jack black laugh. i thought that was funny. it wouldn't be funny if it was anyone else i don't think...or equally as funny anyway.

re: Owen's question... I wanted to believe that's what he meant, too, but I just didn't think it was at ALL funny, for a guy who supposedly doesn't go for big laughs and is usually a good writer. Maybe the delivery needed tweaking, I dunno.

I am just, um, disappointed in the way he presented himself that night.

I loved the will ferrell-jack black thing. "sting" -- LOL!

You guys!

That bit was totally the story Luke told about their appearance on Leno c. Bottle Rocket, except with Ben in Luke's place. Remember? Mmhm. Old material there! Not saying it wasn't hilarious. (I thought that too, ILIS, best part of the otherwise snore of a show.) In fact, knowing that story made me laugh even harder.

Poor Luke. :\

Heh.

H-waters,
I thought you of all people would appreciate my reaction to THE HAIR. I was dying for your comment. or, is there nothing left to do but shrug and throw up our hands?

I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way. -mark twain

Chelse, I meant not to disappoint, but I'm afraid I didn't know just whose HAIR! you meant up there!

Starksy hair funny. Owen hair windswept a la Roller Boogie Boy! I liked neither, but ... I kinda loved 'em both! Maybe O got a little tired of the David Soul-esque matted side-part do? I woulda, that isn't a good look for anyone not ... playing a Tennessee lawyer living in New York and working for the devil. Heh. Keanu! :rock

My intent is to console, Chelse, it's fun hair, I think. Have fun! I prefer messy.

The only person whose hair concerns me at this time is our favorite director's. Where is his girlfriend? Why isn't she doing something about this? So many questions... m m mmm. *shaking head, pursing lips nakitome*

"And now we are on the OHIO turnpike, which is very like the Indiana turnpike, but with more Starbucks, and the Pennsylvania turnpike, but wider. re: Wes' hair, I to wondered where the stylish girlfriend was at, and why she doesn't give hair counsel.

I did mean O's hair up there. I thought ben's looked as expected. I like messy hair, too but someone got into it and made it all pretty-boy. waves. In my heart i know owen doesn't style his hair like that on a daily basis.

I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way. -mark twain

Do you think Owen's hair is more feathery than usual then?
He is looking more Hansel these days than Dignan for sure.

You are far too cute, Chelse. Don't you worry. Owen will get it back.
