Just got a reminder from Amazon that Eric Anderson's Book Chuck Dugan is Awol: A Novel with Maps is set for a May release.

Anyone heard anything about it? I think it was due out last year and frankly, I forgot about it.

Thanks for the reminder. I checked on it once a few monhs back, and it seemd to be still in process. Those Anderson boys are so meticulous; there's a wonder they get anything finished ;)

Anyway, "I am way-ay-ting..."

For others who care and can't be bothered Googling... here is the Amazon description

One question: Amazon says it will be released on May 1st. Does that mean that it will released on that day or that they don't know when it will be released in May so they simply put it for the 1st?

And what exactly does AWOL mean?
------------------

AWOL means Absent Without Leave, it's an army term I believe. And I would have thought May 1 is the actual release date.

Here's the cover again:

Check out Amazon to have a peak inside the book too.

The diver drawing is very Life Aquatic. :)

I love the way Eric always puts a text next to the obvious stuff in his drawings.
------------------

heres something i found that bummed me out.

"The debut novel from writer and illustrator Eric Chase Anerson, whose illustration have been the inspiration for the films "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Rushmore". Containing 35 color and black-and-white illustrations (on 225 pages) this is the story of Chuck, a young naval officer who will stop at nothing to eliminate corruption. On the day of his eighteenth birthday he receives a treasure map drawn by his late father. Chuck leaps into action, going AWOL from duty to stop the weddin g and find the treasure. Each chapter of Chuck's story is illuminated with deatiled maps of places, people, and objects tha Chuck encounters, creating an innovative blend of illustrated fiction."

i thought it was going to be in the lines of a graphic novel. turns out its just a plain old novel. thats not bad, i guess.

Can't wait to hold that book in my hands. It will be amazing. 225 pages is not thin. Maybe Wes will make a movie of the book one day?
------------------

The best part about the drawing on amazon is the line that says "ears"
______

I know! Ha!

You know what? I can't wait to read this thing. There just aren't enough novels with pictures anymore.

Lookie Chuck's little Snoopy teeth. Hee. *fingertip clappy*

And if it don't improve . Then I have to move . I never thought that I would end up here . Maybe I should just change my style . But I feel alright when you smile. - Galaxie 500

That he appears to be shirtless, while smiling like Snoopy, perplexes me.

"CJ, never come to me with 'unnamed sources'. No cider for you."

Perhaps the picture was taking during a big gust of wind?
