Can it be? There's no favorite scene thread for Rushmore!
If I may. . .

THIRD favorite: Max and Blume popping wheelies.

SECOND favorite: Max coming out of the elevator, and putting his gum on the wall.

AAAABSOLUTE favorite: Max and Miss Cross moving onto the dance floor, to Ooh La La. May be my favorite movie scene of all time. So bittersweet!

My poor husband. . . I just watched Rushmore again for the umpteenth time last night, and I kept shouting out : "Favorite scene! Next favorite scene! Best line! Thread on Yankee Racers!" But if HE said anything, I shushed him. The man is a saint.

I like all of your scenes.

4.Gum on the wall/warfare montage.
3.Max making a go of it at Grover Cleveland (esp. the Fighting Owls scene) montage.
T-2. "Pull your head out of your ass"/"UNLOCK IT"
A little drink to unwind myself--almost forgot that one.
1. Rosemary talks dirty to Max.

The "Fighting Owls." Damn. That is the funniest mascot ever.

I've always wondered about that montage. You know how it shows Max doing multiple backflips? Is that just how Max imagines himself? Because 1) Learning to do something like that would take a lot of practice, and 2) When he is next shown with his megaphone, he's his regular spazzy self. Remember: this is a young man who is only an alternate on the Rushmore wrestling team. So is this another "hardest geometry problem ever?"

I love that back handspring deal, it's hilarious. But that montage has a bunch of reality spots, like the carpool, and the tutoring sessions, so I don't know. He is spectacularly uncoordinated (i.e. when Rosemary spooks and I think shoves him a bit, and he falls into some boxes and scrambles back to his feet), but it's so Max to become a yell-leader.

Whoa, had an extra pronoun in there.

Him and his and blahhhhh. Call me jo-jo.

the dance scene at the end with "Ooh La La" gets me every time...

what happened about the signs?

one of my fave scenes is when miss cross and Max meet on the bleachers. best line: "Sic transit gloria. Glory fades. I'm Max Fischer." that is so perfect because that pretty much sums up who Max is and the story of his life. Glory fades. that line says it all.

other fave scenes are the play productions, particularly Dirk dressed up as a nun ("action across the street!"), the canoli line, and Heavan and Hell.

my other favorite scene that I don't think has been mentioned, is: when Max introduces Herman to his father, and tells him he's a barber. the look on Bill Murray's face when he realizes Max's father is a barber is so sweet :)

oh, and when he says "pipe dreams dad. I'm the barber's son!" that whole scene in the barber shop is awesome.

Rushmore contains so many emotions within it: anger, confusion, lust, and humor just to name a few. Therefore this list is kinda of back and forth from funnier scenes to the more serious.

*Blume's speech
*Blume and Max at the Wrestling meet
*The Twins' party
*All dialogue involving Peter Flynn, Max, Blume, and Rosemary (specifically: " Oh, ARE they? ")
*" Uhh...It's a Jellyfish "...totally random scene with that adorable cherub of a child
*The flying of the remote controlled plane and kite

...and the list goes on and on. This movie is such a gift. <p>" I've been bathing with my friends off the coast of St. Bart's playing with spider monkey's and dropping acid...changed our whole perspective on shit. "--Hansel f/Zoolander</p>

I forgot the club montage scene. The more I see it, the funnier it gets. I mean, who dabbles in BEEKEEPING? Backgammon, I can see, French, or go-carts, or calligraphy. . . but beekeeping? It seems like you are either a beekeeper, or not. That's a serious hobby.

1. The Clubs montage...when I saw that in the theatre I knew I would love this movie.

2. The End...I love how the whole cast is there and the bittersweet ending.

3. The scene at the restaurant when Max professes his love for Ms.Cross...heh, classic.
