In The Royal Tenenbaums, where Luke Wilson attempts suicide, has to be one of the most brilliant scenes I've ever seen in a film. The song in the background is great! Good choice, Wes! And the lighting is even better! I think Wes Anderson got that scene from Martin Scorsese's 1967 short film "The Big Shave". They're very, very similar.

Why does Richie say, "I'm going to kill myself tomorrow"
What is the significance of that? The scene is so surreal. Then when Chaz asks him about the suicide note, he says "I wrote it after I regained consciousness" What does this mean? Can anyone help me understand?
