has anyone discussed the signifigance of the picture of underpants in Eli's house/apt? I was re-reading Naked Lunch and noticed that one of the illustrations by Burroughs is a picture of whitey tighties similar but not exactly the same as the one in Eli's apartment. Just thought it was funny, and wondered if it was some sort of nod to Burroughs, or if it was some sort of subliminal connection Wes was trying to make between Eli's drug habits and Burroughs' problems with drugs. anyone have any ideas? Or do you who drew that picture?

the painting is by hugo guinness. his wife, elliot(t) puckette did the two black and white paintings in eli's house.

wes talks about them in the commentary. they're all friends, he says. eli's living room there is sort of modeled after the style in said couple's house.
