i've mentioned earlier in the "reading currently" thread that i was reading "the life of a storyteller" by judith thruman, which is isak dinesen/karen blixen's biography.
i love the book, it's absolutely fab. i came across it during my "out of africa" mania (which is still raging, mind you), and cannot put it down since. i actually try to read as little as possible, because i'm scared i might finish it, and whatever would i do then? :) isak dinesen had such a fascinating life...
anyways, the reason i started this thread (i looked around, but couldn't see a thread only for biographies) is that i was wondering about biographies... i mean... we read about these ppl, and their lives, and we get a glimpse of who they were. i find it absolutely fascinating, especially since a biography is not "based" on a person's life, but is, at least, idealy, an exact accound of it. i find it amazingly cool that the lives of these ppl read so fascinating, even more interesting than a fiction novel.
and, on some level, if i really come to think of if, all our lives are interesting, regardless of the fact that we never "had a farm in africa".
so... once i finish this (nooooo...) any other good biography recommendations? <p>____________ "...nor do I think it’s very intelligent to keep an electrical gadget on the edge of the bathtub."</p>Edited by: morrigan <IMG HEIGHT=10 WIDTH=10 SRC="http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v32/morrigan_/images/morrigan.gif" BORDER=0> at: 5/3/05 3:01 am
