Guess what I got?

The first season of Futurama on DVD!

Yeaaaaahhh! It's so shiny-bright. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--> "There's a lot to be said for making people laugh. Did you know that's all some people have? It isn't much, but it's better than nothing in this cockeyed caravan." --Sullivan's Travels</p>

Good news, everyone!

They have commentary, though. (Not to rub it in.) Did you know Matt Groening has never seen an episode of Star Trek?

I still haven't figured out your "banjo" sig. It's not on the "Robot Hell" episode. (Which is on the first season DVD, btw.) Is it when Bender becomes a disabled folkie and plays with Beck?

I went looking for that quote (and kept ending up back here with your sig) but I <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>did</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> find out that there is a new Futurama tomorrow night! They're burning off the last ones; I think there is going to be several more new ones over the next few weeks.

Yeah. I've seen a few of the "new" ones, and they're as good as any Futurama episode I've seen. I saw the last half of the "Fry is dead" episode... [Zoidberg]"The Sting" it was called[/Zoidberg], and I loved it even though it was kinda ruined by my missing half. I want season 2 DVDs!

Oh, and the Tax Refund one "Three Hundred Big Boys" was amazing. I nearly cried at the end. Futurama rules/d.

Season 2 is coming out on DVD in August. :D I'm looking forward to the Santa episode!

The "Jurassic Bark" episode, with Fry's fossilized dog, makes me all sniffly. (Professor: "It's dolomite, baby, dolomite!")

What about the one where looks for his seven leaf clover in the dust jacket of his Breakfast Club soundtrack and finds all that stuff out about his brother. And at the end where it leaves with "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds playing. That could make a grown man cry.

Damn straight, TS. I <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>did</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> start to cry a little when I was telling my husband about it.

The one where we find out Leela's parents are really mutants, and there's a montage showing them carefully watching over her growing up gets me, too. What was that sweet little song that played over the montage? "Something" Girl?

On edit: I went to the a Futurama board - <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=true">www.peelified.com/cgi-bin...ookie=true</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--> - and found that it was the group Pizzicato, and the song is "Baby Love Child."

edited <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>again</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->, because I got the link wrong.

Hehe, 'Tron. . . we overlapped.

Thanks for the link. It just makes me so sad to go to these sites, though, knowing Futurama is cancelled. (Looks up at sky, ala Captain Kirk: <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>"Foooooooxxxxxx!!!!"</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->)

The clover ep gets me too :) Just goes to show how good Futurama is when Bender can do his 'sorry ladies, i'm taken' bit with Fry's nephew's wedding ring and it still doesn't undermine the tone.

In a way I'm glad it was cancelled, cos it means it won't catch the Simpsons syndrome and go down hill forever. In years to come we'll have nice compact DVD sets of animated joy :D

Yeah, I know what you mean, Kevinoneill. . . but, oh, (<!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>wistfully</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->) for just a couple more seasons. . .

The 'banjo' quote is from the episode Brannigan, Begin Again, where Zapp joins the Planet Express crew.

Thanks, Shaggy! I love Zapp. I always pretend that Phil Hartman is doing his voice -- according to the commentary, he was going to. Fry is named in honor of Phil Hartman.

And thanks for the Futurama link, 'Tron. I had only checked out their Board, and didn't know about the rest of the site. I now have Futurama wallpaper, and Planet Express is my screensaver! <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--> "There's a lot to be said for making people laugh.
