Just read this on the "gotfuturama" site:

<!--EZCODE QUOTE START--><blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>Last year, Futurama won the Emmy in its main category even after FOX forced the production to discontinue. Now, the 55th Annual Primetime Emmy nominations are in and Futurama again conquered one of the precious 5 slots allotted to the creative arts category of "Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour)". The competition looks as follows:

As Told By Ginger - And She Was Gone
Kim Possible - Crush
The Simpsons - Three Gays Of The Condo
SpongeBob SquarePants - New Student Starfish/Clams

Futurama enters the race with the episode "Jurassic Bark."<hr></blockquote><!--EZCODE QUOTE END-->

Stupid Fox. >: <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--> "There's a lot to be said for making people laugh. Did you know that's all some people have? It isn't much, but it's better than nothing in this cockeyed caravan." --Sullivan's Travels</p>

Grrrr. . . we don't even have a release date yet for it here in the States. I <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>did</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> just get the Tick on DVD this week, though.

Nice. Is that the animated series or the one with Patrick Warburton?

The live action. The animated version -- which I also loved -- hasn't been released. . . <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>yet</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->. (she said hopefully.) I watched the one last night with Dave Foley as the closeted superhero, and laughed like a fool.

Cool, they only aired a couple of episodes of it before taking it off over here. It'd be nice if they released the DVD though.

The first and fouth disc of the Futurama DVDs didn't work so I had to take it back and get a replacement. Something to do with the regions, apparently they don't play on region 4 dvd players. Hopefully they'll have fixed the problem by the time they release it over there.

I'm really enjoying watching the DVDs tonight. I love this show, it's a shame it got cancelled. Definitely one of my all-time top 5 tv shows.

Yeah, the Futurama website said there were problems with the discs.

I felt that Futurama had a really strong batch of episodes. It started out strong, and never got a chance to go downhill. For the DVDs, I also enjoy the commentary, though sometimes there are loooooong pauses between them talking.

My favorite commentary bit so far? On DVD Season 2, when one of the guys said that for "Raging Bender," they were originally going to have Mom in the crowd, yelling to Bender: "Make that bitch your bitch, you bastard!" Seems the network had a problem -- or three-- with it.

There were only nine episodes of The Tick made (one of them didn't air) so they all fit nicely on the two discs. A few of the episodes have commentary, too.

Well, I'll be: the "search" function works here!

Over at GotFuturama, they've got news that it looks like the movies are going to happen. Yay!

Ya Dudleyfan, I heard about this and am super excited. What is everyone's favorite character? Ok everyone's gonna say Bender, so I ask what is your fav. non-Bender character?

Personally I'm a huge Kif fan. His exasperated sigh is magnificent. Also you should note he doesn't have bones he's held up by a system of bladders.

Oh, I love Kif, too. I can see why the Amazon women wanted him so. ;-)

I adore Zap Brannigan and his short short skirts. That the late Phil Hartman was slated to voice him makes him all the more marvelous in my book. (Did you know Fry was named "Philip" in honor of Hartman? It's true!)

Zap: "I have made it with a woman! Alert the crew!"

Call my a nerd or somethin', but I kinda like Amy Wong. She's so damn cute.

Oh, and "The Zapper" is one of my favorites as well. In a way, he and Fry are very much alike. They both come from Stupid-Town.

Yeah, I'm super excited! I'm hoping it supplants the Family Guy adoration!
