you guys know that the shaving is symbolic. i don't think we are meant to worry too much about when or where or how he did it.

hey guys,

you know in this scene, while ritchie is shaving he says, "i'm going to kill myself tomorrow" but then proceeds to do it (or attempt to) right then and there. is this bcause he is tired of waiting for tomorrows that never come? please explain, oh enlightened ones!

It's a reference to another film. Wes mentions it in the commentary. Can't remember which film at the moment, though. Anyone?

This was our cream-filled crumpet. I took a deep breath and prayed a little pray.

It's from a Marcel Pagnol film, I'm pretty sure. I'm not sure if Wes even mentions the title in the commentary.
However, I really like your explanation, Apricots.
-John D. Moore

the line "i'm going to kill myself tomorrow" and the action of doing it right thereafter are from the Louis Malle classic,
Le Feu Follet. a 1963 beau.
