speaking of trip why dont' we organize a Tenenbaum location field trip sometime soon! IT will take a while visit everything that I have scouted out but it would be fun.
That rooftop gym might be tricky because I had a little trouble last time getting up there but it's not unpossible!
I've got that excited scared feeling, like 98% excited 2% scared... or maybe it's more... it could be... it could be 98% scared 2% excited.

Field trip sounds great. Several locations are within a few blocks at the northern tip of Central Park.

Royal & Etheline's walk in the park is by The Pool in Central Park at 104th Street on the CPW entrance. There's a nice walk past the ball fields in Central Park to the east side to these sites:

The NY Academy of Medicine (103rd and Fifth Ave) was the location for the conference rooms (6), Margot's play (18 ), the hotel rooftop where Mordecai returns to Richie, and the elevator that Royal ran.

The emergency room (12) is just a couple blocks north on Fifth Ave.

Was the rooftop gym (14) also shot in a building along that stretch of Fifth Ave between 103rd - 105th?

Yeah the rooftop gym is on top of the Museo Del Barrio. The front of that bldg. was used for the Hospital entrance and the entrance to the 375th Street Y is right around the corner. I found that one by accident but it was great. Like I discovered the Mississippi or something.
I've got that excited scared feeling, like 98% excited 2% scared... or maybe it's more... it could be... it could be 98% scared 2% excited.

I went into detail about most of these awhile back. Ever try reading the old threads?

1) The Tenenbaum House

144th & Convent, except for the floor that has the yellow tent.

2) Eli's house

State and Smith in downtow brooklyn. It's either one block west or east of Smith street. I forget, but on state street.

3) Royal and Margots restaurant

I forget. Might of been the Ritz Carlton where we film for Royal's hotel room sceenes.

4) the 375th street Y

105th (?) between 5th and Madison. It's one block north of the science library, might be like 103rd street.

5) the V bridge

Where 2nd ave begins, I think that's around 120th street.

6) the conference rooms (Eli book signing and child genius question and answer. "I have a two part question, Go ahead.")

Science Library, on like 100th and 5th ave. It's close to where Central Park ends on 110th street, just walk down 5th ave from the corner of the park and when you see a school (The front of the hospital in the movie) the science library will be the next block.

7) Royals grave

The graveyard just south of Columbia. A guess but 120th and Broadway.

8) the Tenenbaum summer home

I was off set that day but it was an island east of the bronx.

9) Raleigh Dudley and Margot's home.

Yonkers. Abandoned mansion on the Hudson river. Upstairs was Raleigh's house. Middle floor we filmed the Margot makes out in Paris scene. Bottom floor we filmed interior ambulence with Royal dieing scene and Margot gets her hair down insert. Outside we filmed the Margot marries a Rasta scene.

10) The Pagoda elevator

Science Library mentioned above.

11) the shipyard

West Side Highway in the 50s. Right next to the Entrepid. That was the Q2 in the background, look up where that docs and you've found the spot.

12) the emergency room

Jersey City Hospital

13) Chaz's apartment building

Beckman palce. People think Park and 5th are where the richest live, they are wrong. Beeckman is around 5 blocks long but it's the richest area in all of Manahatten. That house belong to a gut who wrote commercial jinggles and owned four Picaso, three Andy Whorhals, and countless other paintings I was afraid to take off the wall.

14) the rooftop gym

Roof of school a block up from the Science Library

15) the detective office

No clue

16) the dog fight

Williamsburg of bedford. It was around the corner from the dig site we made.

17) the convenience store where royal, ari and Uzi shoplift

Forget

1 8) The theatre where margot has her play (not birthday party)

Same block as the school, further towards Madison.

19) The park in wich Royal and Etheline take a walk

Central Park, either the boat pond or the bond across from FAO Swartz.

20) The bank where they filmed Richie and Margots museum scene

Fulton street right off the Brooklyn Bridge.

21) any thing else I forgot

Read my other post to get more details.
