Hey! Which Queens record didja buy?! The new one comes out on August 27th! Eeeeeeee!
Ahem. I think PP's The Guest is great. I had pretty low expectations and didn't even consider getting it until I saw them on Conan. And seeing Donnie Darko helped, too. But it's a sweet, poppy-rock album.
I've been buying CDs left and right, mainly because CDNow has a new promotion, unofficially called (by me) the Out Of Business Within The Next Year Or So Sale. 30% off selected titles plus $5 credit for each purchase towards another CD purchase. Pretty sweet deal, so I picked up a few things I'd been wanting, like Sinead O'Conner's "i do not want what i haven't got" and Ludacris' "Word of Mouf".
I'd also like tp plug a few others I got recently. The About A Boy Soundtrack, featuring all Badly Drawn Boy music is great. Also, the soundtrack for The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys features 5 songs by Josh and Nick from Queens of the Stone Age with guest drummer Brad Wilk from Rage against the Machine. 4 are score-type pieces, but the best track is "All The Same", a fucking amazing song. If anyone's as big a Queens fan as I am they already have a number of their best b-sides, like: from the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack, Infinity; Plus B-sides: Ode To Clarissa, The Bronze, You're So Vague, and Born To Hula. There's probably more out there, and I think I'll go looking right now!
