the only proof is Brian Wilson on film stating that he did LSD - the first song he wrote on LSD was California Girls - He said that he sas the notes in the air and wrote them down - Brian is a Genius - The Likes of which you rarely see - once - twice in a generation - but yes - He did LSD during Pet Sounds he admits it - go watch the Smile documentary - It doesn't detract from his genius - LSD doesn't detract from the Beatles genius - just what happened - the music speaks for itself

Pet Sounds is such a damn good album that is the basis for almost everything since...seriously (even though it in itself was inspired by Rubber Soul...definitely one-upped it). It's one of those albums that I heard way back, like when I was 9 or 10, and loved it alot but lost it. Always remembered the whole album and how I felt. Heard it in stereo for the first time a year ago with a more mature mind and it has grown incredibly my conceptions of it.

Does anyone else love it when they play God Only Knows during the finale for Boogie Nights?..."Did I hear someone say deal?"...cue the organ/french horn...fucking great.

the ultimate question is do you prefer the stereo or the mono - i can't decide - the stereo certainly is louder - but the harmonies can sound more pure on mono -

i agree pet sounds definitely one upped rubber sould - but I still think that revolver and the white album are unsurpassed in the popular music realm - one could make a significant arguement for Dark Side of The Moon or Animals by Pink Floyd being up there with those few mentioned above

i understand that pet sounds was a response to rubber soul, then sgt. pepper was in response, in turn, to pet sounds.. maybe that's already been mentioned though - i didnt read the whole thread

I've become grown to the stereo. It just...sounds better even though I sometimes do go back to the mono since that's the one I fell in love with (but, like I said, when hearing it again it sounds like a whole new album because of my mindset) but the stereo remix definitely usurped it but that's just me. I can't help it...I fucking love it when people remix mono. Just like with movies...unless your name is Jaws.

mono is the bong room. can't beat the mix. I actually really liked the 5.1 mix as well. Highly recommend the DVD-audio. <p>"Well I want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>

Sort of. It's a mr. show reference that I enjoy. In one episode these stoners are touring anne frank's hide-out and they start talking about how it would be cool to have it. When one of them mentions a hidden room the other said "that would be the bong room." So anything that is awesome is "bong room." :soapbox <p>"Well I want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>

great reference - bob o'denkirks body language when he says that is amazing - in fact the body language in that skit is classic - when dave and bob no chalantly give each other five during that exchange also brings me to my knees - i think mr. show is the greatest comedy anything that i have ever seen - it is really the deepest most onion like comedy i know of - any other brilliant tv comedies i might be missing raliegh?

Why don't you PM me? It's not really on topic... Let me know what you like and I'll try and make some recommendations. Maybe I'll pick up a couple good ones too. <p>"Well I want to die." - Raleigh St Clair</p>
