don't worry, this isn't spam..i am obsessed with wes and owen..but i have finally got around to posting..mainly in the bottle rocket board since that is my favorite film out of all of them.

I do not write screenplays. A few of our board members do, however, and there's a forum in General Discussion (that hasn't been getting much action lately, unfortunately) for writers.

But a couple of people do share their work here.

BTW, I did, in fact, pay to see TRT four times in the theater. HeyJude just about has the script memory-indexed, it's amazing what that girl remembers. I bet she has us beat on the screenings tally.

What do you say, Judey? :)

:o (blushing) HW is almost right about memorizing, but be careful, i usually cheat and check with the scripts which i keep all handy. unfortunately i've seen TRT only 2 times in theatre, but for me it's a record by itself, 'cause i don't go to movies (term not applicable to Wes-sy films) very often. But i bought the DVD on release day, does it count??

Wes' films and this board did lots of wonders for me, one of them is almost (hope, not indefinitely "almost") completed screenplay.

I'll bump the Writing thread for you in General Discussion.

Damn straight it counts!

I kid because I love, HJ. I know you have them handy. You give page numbers.

And thanks for bumping the writers thread, we've got a lot of creative energy on the board lately!

Hi, I write screenplays as well. We started discussing them a little in a Rushmore thread and got off topic. So I thought I should post here.

You can enter screenplays into the Austin Film Festival?

I'm a writer, too. I've written a few shorts, but I'm considering writing a novel as opposed to a screenplay so I don't get a good rogering from Ivan Reitman or whatever asshole director has his own cadre of re-writers and up-punchers. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--><!--EZCODE FONT START--><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"You see my kind of loyalty was loyalty to one's country, not to its institutions, or its office holders. The country is the real thing, the substantial thing, the eternal thing; it is the thing to watch over, and care for, and be loyal to; institutions are extraneous, they are its mere clothing, and clothing can wear out, become ragged, cease to be comfortable, cease to protect the body from winter, disease, and death. To be loyal to rags, to shout for rags, to worship rags, to die for rags--this is loyalty to unreason, it is pure animal; it belongs to monarchy, was invented by monarchy; let monarchy keep it."

wouldn't they just rape your novel too though. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--> Dum De Doo Doo De Doo Doo Doo Dum De Doo Doo Daa, Doo Doo Doo De Doo Doo Doo. Ohh, Shimminy Doo Daa shinniny shake, look who's got his very first date. And if fate dictates we'll get naked, and mate, you just wait!</p>

Not necessarily- if a novel does well enough, I'd be able to negotiate a good deal and write the screenplay all by myself. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END--><!--EZCODE FONT START--><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"You see my kind of loyalty was loyalty to one's country, not to its institutions, or its office holders. I write songs and plays and I'm writing my first screenplay right now. It's taking a while, though.
