[Proper etiquette probably dictates that I post this in the 'General' forum, but I am hoping that I might get more help here.]

Psst! On the images below, right click to 'view image.' The board cuts off the right side of all of them.

I need help making a banner for The Darjeeling Limited pages. Rob, who graciously made all of our other banners, is MIA. But, it would need to match the size and style of the ones that he has done:

I was thinking it would be good to transpose the text from this image (or at least the type font):

With this image:

Any help/takers?

yeah, sure i'll take a crack at it.. anyone know the font name?

ON EDIT: I believe the font is called Blue Highway bold, which is something i just found on http://www.dafont.com. it may need to be stretched width-ways, looking at the curve of the G, but i'm pretty sure that's it, with some added stylization for the solid/outline look.

however, i was looking at the Ws in the names across the top, and they don't quite match up (middle hump goes halfway up on the poster). could be that something different was used from the actual title. anyway, i was very proud i found a match.

There was a discussion of the font on the typophile forum, and they couldn't even figure i t out. I'll try to find the thread... it's not showing up in their search feature.

Oops. I shouldn't have said anything. I didn't mean to rain on your parade. It's still quite impressive that you figured it out.

I tried my hand at making a banner.

I want to incorporate tracks, but they're tricky to draw.

Wow, that's really quite good, actually. I like it, but...

One minor request: is there any way to make the lines crisper? Rob's images were JPEGs, but the lines were really crisp. I can only get such crisp lines in a GIF. Anyone know? (I really don't mean to complain)

If anyone else comes up with anything, we could always use multiple banners. I was thinking about making the banner on the main RushmoreAcademy.com page a Darjeeling one...

Okeydokey. The technique I used was decidedly low tech, so I'm not really sure how to sharpen most of it. I could send you or somebody else the photoshop file, and they could work with it if you'd like. I tried just going in and using the sharpen tool, but it just made it look pixely...

I LOVE that design, dalmationmouse. Jason's mustache is ridiculous.

Hey dalmationmouse,

Do you have an 'original' version of your banner saved? (i.e. one that retains its original properties before you save it as a JPEG, etc) I *THINK* if we made it a GIF, we might not have all the blurriness issues.

more! i'm not sure what exactly to do with the lettering. i'm sure there's probably a way to drop text in so it is translucent over, like, the ridges on the train car.. i haven tried that yet, i was working on the lettering coming off first.

i will now go to photobucket and try to get the images onto my post..

:D yessss! k here are more:

Could you post copies of the RT and TLA banners? I no longer have copies of those.
