Found a mash-up of all of Wes' movies, edited together pretty nicely, here. Definitely makes you want to rewatch them all.

This guy's done a whole bunch of these, my favorite (by far) being his one for PTA. He also has ones for Scorsese, Tarantino, and the Coens, among others. Interview with the guy here.

Wes is featured in another imdb poll today.
http://www.imdb.com/poll/

He's currently in second, only a few percent behind Steven Soderbergh.

Matt Zoller Seitz, the great (retired) critic and filmmaker made this video essay on the work of Bill Melendez and it's influence on Wes' films. It's incredible and definitely worth watching.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know, in the new issue of Filter (with Elvis Costello and Jenny Lewis on the cover) there is a great, in-depth interview with Wes about the making of Bottle Rocket and the Criterion release. There's also some wonderful insights into the making of Wes's films with Bob Yeoman, as well as two lovely behind-the-scenes pics taken by Yeoman during the filming of The Darjeeling Limited. It's really great stuff, you should all check it out!

Attention Parisians: Cinémathèque française will be putting on a Jacques Tati retrospective from April 8 - August 2, and it will include a six part documentary on Tati that will include interviews with modern directors including Wes Anderson.

You can read more about it here.

Not really about Wes, but it's related to this and I found it interesting.

I guess France has a strict ban on all advertising depicting smoking, so even in film posters or bus ads, they cannot show it. Apperantly a bus ad for the Tati retrospective has been censored by the bus company because in the photo on the poster, Tati had a pipe in his mouth.

The new version changes that...to a pinwheel.

Watching this video of Quentin Tarantino's Cannes press conference for his new film Inglorious Basterds, where he's asked about Isbaelle Huppert, and he mentions Wes, which seemed odd. I googled it and apperantly Wes interviews Ms. Huppert in this months' French Premiere. (The issue is dedicated to here, likely because she's the President of the Cannes jury this year.)

That is, if my little french and italian and babelfish are to be trusted. The Huppert question comes about 17 seconds into the video.

Criterion box-cover artist Caitlin Kuhwald does this month's Criterion Top 10, and like so many others, she picked Wes.

Quote:
8. THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS This is really a sneaky way to list all of Criterion’s editions of Wes Anderson’s films. Tenenbaums is by far my favorite, but Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, and the new edition of Bottle Rocket are all pretty fantastic, too. I’m always immediately won over by the artwork and illustrations that tie all his films together. Even with different artists (Ian Dingman and Eric Chase Anderson) there is a consistency, due in no small part to Wes Anderson’s own particular aesthetic, that makes these films feel like four stories from the same hyperreal, idyllically melancholy world. There’s an interview in the Tenenbaums supplements section with artist Miguel Calderon that’s totally worth a listen.

From Edgar Wright's Twitter feed today:

Okay. Forgive the namedrop and forgive the fanboy in me, but it was nice to briefly meet the legendary Bill Murray.

I also showed Wes Anderson about ten minutes of Scott Pilgrim. It was indeed exciting and hugely nerve wracking. Has been a good night.

Wes is the focus of an article in the most recent Interview magazine, which just came today. It's the October/November 2009 issue with a mashup of faces on the cover.

For those who don't know, part of Interview's concept [created by Andy Warhol] was to have artists interview other artists. Wes's interviewer for this issue is Arnaud Desplechin, of whom I had never heard. Desplechin is a French filmmaker whose first movies came out just a few years before Bottle Rocket.

Here's a link to read the full article, but I recommend purchasing a copy of this beautiful magazine. Print is suffering from people reading articles for free! Besides, there's always more photography in the magazine than the online version.
