When I read that last night, I couldn't believe it. Is everyone at Sony on drugs? Look, I'd love to see a Wes comic book movie (something tells me comic panels would be a motif like the curtains in Rushmore or the book pages in TRT). No way audiences go for it though. James Cameron makes the most sense, considering he was attached in the 90s, and bringing him in for 3D is just about the only reasonable justification I can think of to reboot this franchise.

Well, technically he's attatched to directed a "reboot".

I think he could totally make a superhero movie. or more like something about a Max Fischeresque kid who on a whim decides to be a superhero.

but a long standing well known comic..i don't kknow about.

I was disappointed when the Spielberg-wants-Wes-to-direct-Tintin rumors didn't become a reality. I can't imagine a more perfect comic for Wes to adapt to film. Still, Edgar Wright is involved in those films now, so I'm hopeful.

I think Wes can make a great film out of anything, because he's a great director and as we all know it's not what a film is about, it's how it's about it.

An American Empirical production of Spiderman 4 would be a great film, but it would make $10.

When I first read it I started to laugh and couldn't believe it. Don't think he is gonna do it. I cant see him interested in this kind of movies.

It was announced by Sony a few days ago that Marc Webb (director of (500) Days of Summer) will be directing the "reboot."

I doubt Wes was really ever on their list. He'd never have made it through development even if he had wanted to do it.

I believe Nikki Finke was the first to report their wish list with Wes on it. She's usually right about these things. But yeah it wasn't ever going to happen. Hell, I'll bet Webb leaves over creative differences within a year.
