The year is nearly over and I believe I've heard most of the releases coming that would be in consideration, and so here's a top 10.

It has music embeds of all the stuff mentioned, including a 21 song playlist of also-rans. I clearly have too much free time.

Oh man, Sleigh Bells make me want to stab out my eardrums. The whole thing they do with purposefully pushing the volume up to completely rape dynamic range makes their music sound ugly, brutish and dumb.

Thumbs up to LCD Soundsystem, though, and especially She & Him. Zooey's got some real pipes and, although she's a likable actress, I'm definitely much more fond of her as a singer now.

It took me a while to come around to Sleigh Bells. I saw them live last month and they were really, surprisingly quiet. They had 10 amps on stage and I could have played their record louder in my car.

I still think it's a really good record though. Once you get past the headaches, there's good stuff in there.
