A couple of people mentioned that Hamlet is a favorite "book" of theirs. It is a play, not a book.

WOW! Yes, I read Wicked last summer. I loved the idea of it but it seemed there were some issues that were never resolved. I liked it though. I'd like to read some of the other ones -- like the wicked stepsisters one.

Watership Down - the cartoon made me cry when i was little, but never read the book

the book, The Plague Dogs will tear you apart. It is probably one of the best books arguing animal testing I have ever read.
If you like fairy tales with a twist, you might enjoy ANgela Carter. She was famous for taking traditional fairy tales and warping the perspective. Another good book is
WAS-Geoffrey Ryman
It is a bittersweet version of The Wizard of Oz/Dorothy/Judy Garland story. Chilling, but provoking.

Why dost thou take issue with Shakespeare?

because I be an English Major, baby! I don't care what you have on the list, but I don't think you should call it a book if it isn't. Most people are pointing out whether something is a collection of short stories, a novella, etc. It isn't a big deal and I wasn't trying to sound snotty or superior. There's just a difference.

i listed novellas as well... sorry about that.... but i also listed short story collections which are in the form of a book.

BUT, the description of the forum reads, "What or who do you enjoy reading?" even though the name of the forum is "Books".

so, nobody is really wrong for posting about plays, novellas, or short stories...

I've loved all of Chuck Palahniuk's books, though he tends to repeat his tricks, I found. Right now, I'm reading everything I can get by JD Salinger, and think they are all wonderful. I'm also about 1/3 through A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. Has anybody read this, or Stupied White Men by Michael Moore. I loved Downsize This.

Only this morning I started reading 'The Selected Works of T.S Spivet' by Reif Larson and despite having only just started it, I can tell I'm going to love it.
