Long story made short:
Not that we know of. Criterion said that they don't own the rights. We have no idea if Paramount will ever release a SE version.

fair enough. i'm sure that's a common question, and i apologize for asking it again. but thanks for not jumping down my throat. the mods/longtime members on a lot of message boards i've been to will crucify you for asking a commonly asked question.

No biggie. I went to bump an old thread for ya, but it wasn't on the front page and I didn't feel like diggin' for it. :)

We do need to do some sort of FAQ though. We've talked about it before, but never really got the ball rolling...

From the Criterion Forum:

Quote:
Not to get people's hopes up or anything, but the latest (6.12.07) New York Times TimesTalks podcast is an hour long interview with Luke and Andrew Wilson. During the audience Q&A section at the end, they are asked about a Bottle Rocket special edition DVD and Luke says "We just heard last week that I think they're going to do one of those Criterion versions of it. I don't know if that's true, but we did hear that." (this is at the 55:10 mark)

great news!

i hope it happens.

there are obviously some deleted scenes as some are in the trailer.
then there is the original short.
i wonder what other extras there could be.

maybe a wes/owen writer's commentary and then one with some of the cast as well.

This could be possible. A few days ago I read an article by a Criterion staffer who worked on the restoration for the upcoming release of Days of Heaven, one of my favorites. He noted that Paramount films used to be off-limits, but now they've reached an agreement, and Days of Heaven was one of the highest priority films for them to get from the Paramount vaults. I wouldn't be surprised if Bottle Rocket is finally in the pipeline.
