I think the scene that kind of captures the spirit of the movie was when Dignan rides that little motorbike over to Bob's house and convinces Anthony to join the team. You feel so sorry for Dignan after Future Man ridicules him, but then Anthony makes his day by saying he's "in" on "three conditions." I thought it was poignant and hilarious at the same time.

i agree this was kind of the turning point of the movie. the little goggles he is wearing and how he has trouble working the bike was sheer brilliance. i was not expecting the third thing to be a jumpsuit!

Yeah that was a good scene. Turning point? Definitely.

I think my favorite is when Owen and Luke go to Bob's house and they are sitting there eating nut's or peanuts. That girl comes up to Luke and asked him why he checked his self into the hospital and luke looks at the nut or peanut between his fingers and throws it behind him and say's "I just went nuts!"
while Bob is getting his ass kicked by Futurman.

Man that's funny shit. <p>"A scoundrel's worst fear is a society without money: for in such a society he would only get the respect he deserves."--Ben Franklin</p>

I truely love the scene when Dignan yells and screams at Anthony for giving away their money. Owen Wilson does such a great job in that scene. -- Fritz Lang

I never noticed that they were eating nuts in that scene. Very perceptive. Never made the connection.

I'm actually not a fan of the scene when Future Man makes fun of Dignan from the car. Yeah, Dignan's response is so sincere it almost breaks your heart, and the shot of Anthony watching Dignan is very revealing, but the whole teasing bit feels like it was taken from some after-school special.

The country-club boys pull up in a car to make fun of how poor and tacky Dignan is? And it completely changes Anthony's mind? I think it is less original/sincere than most of Wes's stuff.

I always thought that the end of the movie really summed things up for me. When Anthony and Bob visit Dignin in jail, and Dignin pretends like he has an escape plan. That whole passage is really nice because Dignin has no resentment towards anyone, he still wants to give them the belt buckles he made for Apple Jack and Mr. Henrey. Thats a great attitude to have, and I know Anthony and Bob didn't share the same feelings.

i love the scene in the bar. dignan was so down just before they go out, and he gets there, he's having a good time and all, making some friends, and out of the clear blue, gets a beatdown from some mexican hustler in a cheap white suit. and anthony is totally oblivious. maybe kind of a cheap gag, but it still cracks me up every time. it seems very appropriate for where dignan was at the time, trying to stay positive and motivated, with things getting worse and worse for him at every turn... <p>"Pudding can't fill the emptiness inside me... but it'll help!" - Captain Murphy (Sealab 2021)</p>Edited by: Bert Fischer  <IMG HEIGHT=10 WIDTH=10 SRC="http://www.geocities.com/born_again_man/meikon.jpg" BORDER=0> at: 4/2/04 3:01 am

I think my favorite is the book store robbery. The lines in the scene are classic.

I love that bookstore robbery, just for Anthony picking up a guide to getting a government job. So fricken funny to me.

I caught a few minutes of BR on Comedy Central yesterday and the scene between Anthony and Grace is so great. She's such a little adult. "What's going to happen to you?"

His reaction. Ohhhh, poor Anthony. Woman's intuition solidly displayed by his 10 year-old sister freaking. him. out.

I love that relationship, it's sweet.

I just looked up the actress who played Grace on IMDb, and she hasn't done anything since. What a shitty way to start my day (yeah, I woke up at 1:00pm...I'm going in to work at 5 tonight). She was so terrific in that scene. <p><!--EZCODE HR START--><hr /><!--EZCODE HR END-->I never liked kids. They're like small drunk adults. </p>

I love the final scene...I think out of all the end scenes in Anderson's films, that one is my favourite...the music, and the meaning and just...everything worked really nicely in that one.

My favourite scene however has to be after Dignan gets in a fight and says "I'd rather not relive it".

I used that line so many times since :b ...

And ofcourse the "He's out. And you're out. And I don't think I'm in either" line was just priceless.
